Leader, Casualty Claims

This position will be accountable for the effective and efficient operation of the Casualty Team (Accident Benefits and Bodily Injury) to achieve maximum results, efficiencies and performance through effective leadership. This position provides agile leadership and direction to employees in compliance with the claims policies and procedures set out by the company and drives performance and exceptional member experience. As a leader of the Casualty Team you will professionally demonstrate the following qualities:

  •  Understand and apply best practices towards compliance, internal control and operational risk controls,
  •  Proactively identify, monitor and intervene as required on potential highly complex, problematic or fraudulent claims,
  •  Ability to enhance our internal talent through effective coaching, feedback, development and career paths,
  •  Knowledge of all relevant regulation, including the Insurance Act,
  •  Provide superior member service to policyholders and brokers,
  •  Strong reinsurance knowledge and understanding of policy wordings,
  •  Excellent knowledge of the Statutory Accident Benefits Schedule and requirements within,
  •  Ability to develop, coordinate, lead and deliver appropriate technical training sessions to internal staff and external brokers,
  •  Effective communicator and interpersonal skills with all levels of staff,
  •  5- 7 year’s experience in claims and leadership role,
  •  University degree or equivalent work experience,
  •  Completion or working towards Certified Insurance Professional/Fellowship Certified Insurance Professional designation is an asset.
